These terms apply when you buy from PC Galaxy online at pcgalaxy.co.za or in our shop, and when you book a repair with us. Please read them before you place an order. By placing an order or booking a repair, you agree to these terms.
Nothing in these terms takes away any right you have under the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008 (CPA), the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act 25 of 2002 (ECTA) or any other South African law. If anything here conflicts with those rights, the law wins.

We will send legal notices to the email address you give us at checkout or when you book a repair. You can send legal notices to us at the address or email above.
2. Products, condition grades and photos
We sell new and refurbished laptops, desktops, all-in-ones, monitors, graphics cards and parts. Every refurbished machine is cleaned, serviced and tested in our Brits workshop before it is listed. Each listing shows its condition grade:
- Brand new: sealed or unused, with the manufacturer’s warranty.
- Demo unit: ex-display or demo unit that looks and works like new.
- Grade A: excellent condition, with very light signs of use, if any.
- Grade B: good condition, with visible light marks or scuffs, and works perfectly.
- Grade C: fair condition, with noticeable cosmetic wear, and works perfectly.
The grade describes how the item looks, not how it works. We tell you about any known fault or cosmetic flaw on the product page, and these disclosed flaws are not grounds for a warranty claim. Photos are of the actual item or the same model in the same condition. Small differences in colour or lighting may occur. Battery health on refurbished laptops is tested, but a used battery will not last as long as a new one.
Refurbished machines are usually one of a kind. If the same item is bought in the shop and online at nearly the same time, and we can’t supply it, we will tell you straight away. You can then choose a full refund or an equivalent item.
3. Prices and mistakes
All prices are in South African rand (R). The price shown for an item is the full price you pay for it. Delivery, if you choose it, is shown separately at checkout before you pay. We may change prices at any time, but a change won’t affect an order we have already accepted.
If a product is listed with an obviously wrong price or description, we will contact you before we send it. You can then go ahead at the correct price, or cancel for a full refund.
4. Placing an order
When you place an order, you get an order confirmation email, which tells you we have received it. We accept your order and the contract is formed when we confirm that payment has been received and the order is being prepared. We may decline an order, for example when we suspect fraud or an item is no longer available. If we decline an order you have already paid for, we refund you in full.
Please check your order summary before you pay. Make sure your name, phone number, email address and delivery address are correct. We use these details to contact you about your order.
5. Payment
- Card (Yoco): card payments are processed securely by Yoco. We never see or store your full card details.
- Direct bank transfer (EFT): use your order number as the payment reference. We hold the item for you and prepare it once the payment shows in our account, which usually takes 1 to 2 business days.
- Cash on collection: available for orders you collect from our shop. Please pay in full when you collect.
- Buy now, pay later: where offered at checkout, the provider’s own terms and approval process apply to the payment plan.
An EFT order that hasn’t been paid within 3 business days may be cancelled so the item can be sold to someone else.
6. Delivery and collection
- Delivery: by courier anywhere in South Africa: R120 per order, or R209 per order if it includes a gaming PC, however many you buy. Delivery usually takes 2 to 4 working days after the order is ready. Remote areas can take longer.
- Collection: free from our shop at 2 Macintyre Street, Brits. Please allow 3 days for your order to be prepared; we will let you know when it’s ready. Bring your order number and an ID that matches the name on the order.
Delivery times are estimates. We aren’t responsible for courier delays outside our control, but we will help you follow up. Ownership and risk pass to you once the item is delivered or collected.
Please check the parcel when it arrives. If the box is visibly damaged or the item is damaged or missing, tell us within 48 hours with photos, and keep the packaging. If damage is reported later, we can still help, but it may be harder to claim from the courier.
7. Cancelling an online order (cooling-off period)
For goods bought online, ECTA gives you the right to cancel without a reason and without penalty within 7 days after you receive them. To cancel:
- WhatsApp or email us within 7 days of receiving the item, and give your order number.
- Return the item complete, with its charger, accessories and packaging, in the condition you received it.
The only cost you pay is the direct cost of sending the item back to us. We refund the rest within 30 days of your cancellation, usually much sooner. This cooling-off right doesn’t apply to software, licence keys or anything else excluded by section 42 of ECTA, such as items made to your specification.
For items bought in the shop, the law doesn’t require change-of-mind returns. Our in-store return policy is set out in our Warranty & Returns policy.
8. Warranty
- Refurbished products: 6-month warranty, including the battery, from the date you receive the item.
- New products: the manufacturer’s warranty, which we will help you claim through the local supplier. The CPA’s 6-month warranty on defective goods also applies.
If a covered defect appears during the warranty, you can choose a repair, a replacement with an equivalent item, or a refund. If a repaired part fails again for the same reason within 3 months, we replace the item or refund you.
The warranty doesn’t cover:
- drops, cracks, liquid damage or power surges;
- opened or tampered seals, or repairs by someone else;
- misuse or overclocking;
- software problems such as viruses;
- cosmetic marks that were disclosed when you bought the item.
To claim, WhatsApp us on 082 596 4474 or bring the item to the shop with your order number or invoice. You can check your warranty on our warranty checker. Full details are in our Warranty & Returns policy.
9. Repairs and upgrades
- Quote first: we assess your device for free and tell you the exact price before we start. We only do the work once you approve it. Prices on our website are “from” prices and include parts.
- Turnaround: repair times on our website are estimates and depend on parts being available. We’ll keep you updated.
- Repair guarantee: repairs are guaranteed for 3 to 12 months depending on the part, as stated on your quote or invoice. The CPA’s minimum 3-month guarantee on repair parts and labour always applies.
- Liquid damage: we will try our best, but we can’t guarantee that a liquid-damaged device can be repaired.
- Your data: please back up your files before you hand in a device. Repairs can sometimes erase data. We take care, but we aren’t responsible for lost data, except where the law doesn’t allow that to be excluded.
- Courier collection: available for R300 return (R150 each way).
- Collecting your device: we will let you know when your device is ready. Please collect it, and pay any approved amount, as soon as you can.
10. Software
Software and licence keys can’t be returned once they are activated or revealed, except where the law requires it. Please keep your keys and login details safe. We can’t replace lost keys unless the software maker allows it.
11. Our responsibility to you
We are responsible for loss you suffer because we breach these terms or are negligent, where that loss was foreseeable. We aren’t responsible for loss of profits or business, or for indirect loss, except where the law doesn’t allow that to be excluded. Nothing in these terms limits our liability for anything that can’t be limited by law, including your rights under the CPA.
12. Your information
We use your personal information only to process orders, repairs and enquiries, and as described in our Privacy Policy, in line with POPIA.
13. Using our website
The text, photos and design on pcgalaxy.co.za belong to PC Galaxy or are used with permission. Please don’t copy them without asking. Product names and logos belong to their owners. We work to keep the website accurate and available, but we can’t promise it will always be free of errors or interruptions.
14. Complaints
If something isn’t right, please contact us first at 082 596 4474 or support@pcgalaxy.co.za. We aim to reply within 2 business days. If we can’t resolve it, you can contact the Consumer Goods and Services Ombud (CGSO) or the National Consumer Commission.
15. Changes and governing law
We may update these terms from time to time. The version on this page when you place your order or book your repair is the one that applies to it. These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa.
